Alex and Michelle | Arches Country House, Brotton

Chris and Linda Birkbeck originally converted the old Stables to guest accommodation to house the Guest back in the 90's. Today its an up and coming wedding venue, fast becoming one of my favourites. Chris, Linda and their managers Jen and Sharon are such accommodating people. Nothing seems too much for them. The Arches Country House Hotel offers a family and intimate feel to any event, especially a wedding.

The Wedding

Alex and Michelle's whole wedding day was at The Arches Country house hotel in Brotton, from start to finish. Michelle got ready in the bridal room, with Alex tucked away down stairs so's not to catch a glance of his beautiful bride before time. I have been really lucky, I've worked at The Arches Country House lots of time over the past Ten years. Over those Ten years not once have I had issues capturing the set up guest shots, the weather has held every time (I've just jinxed myself now). Alex and Michelle's wedding was no different we couldn't of asked for better weather. The skies where blue, the breeze was warm and not a rain cloud in site.

The Views

Chris is very proud of his Rally school and the track. He always loves taking the bride and groom to the tallest mound. It gives beautiful views down the coastline towards Boulby cliffs. Although I have been privileged to have accompanied many brides to this location, I felt like doing something a little different. With a little creativity I made Michelle levitate...... yeah that's right! I love this image with Alex holding her down, it was so much fun to create. I really did go outside my style of a documentary wedding photographer and my comfort zone. Everyone loved the venue and the weather, staying out side enjoying the late warmth of the sun and the rear of the venue provides a lovely sheltered suntrap. It was nice to see everyone with a drink in hand talking, laughing and generally have a cracking time. This is one of my favourite times to capture people, venues like the arches tend to have several routes to and from different mini locations, so it gives me chance to move around capturing people from different angles, plus i'm not as visible, so people act much more natural providing me with a perfect opportunity for some natural images.

The food

The wedding breakfast was in fact a carvery, served by Chris and Linda, what a perfect way to break the day up. I enjoyed tucking into my beef dinner, something I'm becoming a little connoisseur of, although its not really what you need as wedding photographer. A full meal when you have another few hours of work to do - You feel so sluggish!  I have my favourite venues for this meal and The arches Country House is one of them. (that's not my ash tray in the background - I don't smoke!, I like to sit out of the way of the guest during the meal so I grab whatever seating is available) Alex and Michelle were provided with a marquee for their first dance and cake cut which gave the perfect space to house the DJ and for everyone to see and record the proceedings on their phones. So in answer to the question "Was The Arches Country House, Brotton a perfect wedding venue for Alex and Michelle?" Yes it was a perfect venue for a perfect day enjoyed by all.
