Caleb & Beth | Grinkle Park Hotel Wedding
The venue.
As always Grinkle Park Hotel has remained one, if not, my most favourite wedding venue to work at. Richard, Paul, and the staff are always welcoming and accommodating. I always feel part of the staff and therefore part of the day.
Despite the power cut which plunged the whole area in to darkness for a few hours, which I must admit made the Hotel feel really, cosy and warm. Grinkle Park offers a beautiful backdrop to any wedding. There are always places to work, whether it’s raining, snowing or sunshine
Grinkle Park even provided entertainment, in the form of a beautiful star display. With the electricity out and no light pollution, anyone who went outside became amazed with the array of stars in the night sky.
The ceremony
Caleb shed a few tears while he is waiting of Beth arriving down the aisle, he had great support around him with his two best men, awaiting of Beth arriving. She looked stunning following her bridesmaids down the aisle to meet her groom.
Working in Redcar and Cleveland means working with the registrars from the area, all of which I know well, having worked alongside them for the past 15 years. Today was Barbra, who must be my favourite as she is always relaxed and fun, this makes the bride and groom relaxed too. Making my job of capturing the ceremony easier because the guests and couple are at ease.
Bridal portraits
I love to give every bride and groom time away from the guests and a breather from the pace of the day. Accompanied by a bridesmaid, usually to aid the fluffing of the dress and to carry drinks. Jessica was the chosen one on this day.
The breeze was particularly strong and the fact that Beth’s veil was long enough to act like a sail, it made for some fabulous bridal photographs. That’s were Jessica came in… someone to help catch the breeze under the veil before running away out of shot…. Well almost!
Being early February the weather, although dry, was still very chilly and I’m always conscious that the brides tend not to have much more than their wedding dress. The last thing I’d want would be for the bride to get cold. Luckily Beth seemed fine and was willing to work with me to get the shots I’d envisaged.
The speeches
Not sure what to say here, Caleb and Beth made the decision to have the speeches before the meal, meaning everyone could enjoy the food they were desperate to eat without feeling nervous. From the onset I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house – even I had to hold back the emotion.
First dance
The first Dance was a little delayed due the to fact that Grinkle Park didn’t have the electricity to serve drinks let alone for Karl to finish setting up his disco either. A wedding guest with a portable speaker and champagne ice bucket to amplify the sound as kind of makeshift disco. Then, out of the blue, like a miracle the electric was restored, a little late, but it was met with a huge cheer from the guests. It gave way for the first dance and the evening’s festivities to begin.
